Trading 212, a UK-based financial technology firm, has decided to reverse the interface redesign for its app after receiving backlash from retail traders. The company had rolled out the redesign in mid-December, introducing a bubble-style layout, but it was met with criticism from users who said the changes buried critical information and made the app more difficult to use.

The firm’s community platform was flooded with hundreds of complaints about the new interface, with users singling out specific functionality losses, such as the portfolio value graph losing axis numbers and pending orders no longer showing cash allocation amounts. Traders warned that they would switch brokers unless the firm fixed the app’s design.

A company representative, KrisG, announced that Trading 212 would restore the previous version of the app, saying “We appreciate your feedback on the portfolio redesign and understand the concerns it raised. Based on what we’ve heard, we’ll be rolling out an update in January that brings back the previous layout.”

One user, NakamuraRTS, criticized the new design, saying “The app feels completely unserious. Who creates charts without a Y-axis?” and added “People are using your app to deploy their life savings. Do better in 2026.” NakamuraRTS also responded to KrisG’s message, emphasizing the need for a simple and functional app with a clear and transparent interface. The user’s comments reflected the concerns of many other traders who had expressed similar dissatisfaction with the new design.

The decision to reverse the redesign is a significant move for the UK-based broker, as it shows that they are willing to listen to user feedback and prioritize functionality and usability in app design.

Trading 212’s reversal of the interface redesign is expected to be rolled out in an update in January, which will bring back the previous layout.
