French broker expands into UK with Leicester deals

Odealim Group, a French insurance broker, has entered the UK market by acquiring six firms based in Leicester. The move marks the company’s first expansion into Britain.
Deal includes trade, home, and tax protection insurance
The purchase involves Rhino Trade Insurance, Rhino Home Protect, Rhino Protect, Vantage, Quest, and Independent Certified Practising Accountants (ICPA). These firms specialize in niche insurance segments, providing tailored coverage and support services.
An online-only proposition, Rhino Trade Insurance offers specialist protection for self-employed tradespeople. Rhino Home Protect focuses on insurance for home buyers and sellers, while Rhino Protect handles wholesale legal expense coverage. Vantage provides tax-free protection for fees incurred during HMRC inquiries, and Quest delivers business support, including HR services and health and safety training.

ICPA, the UK’s largest accounting membership organization, supplies practice insurance, professional indemnity coverage, and tax fee protection.
Private equity backing and industry context
TA Associates and Ardian financed the transaction. A report on UK insurance distribution mergers and acquisitions from MarshBerry noted that the six firms shared “common ownership,” making the deal a single, large-scale purchase.
Oaklins S&W, the advisory firm that handled the sale, stated that the acquisition expands Odealim Group’s offerings with specialist products, advisory services, and membership-based solutions delivered through digital channels, intermediary schemes and strategic partnerships.
Private equity investment in insurance distribution has grown. Firms like TA Associates and Ardian have backed brokers with scalable, technology-driven models, betting on the sector’s stability and recurring revenue.

Impact on the UK market
Odealim Group specializes in real estate and construction insurance. The acquisition gives it a UK foothold with a portfolio serving tradespeople, homeowners, accountants, and businesses. The deal allows the French broker to diversify while leveraging the existing customer bases of the acquired firms.
For the Leicester companies, the purchase may provide greater resources. Rhino Trade Insurance, which operates on a fully digital platform, fits Odealim Group’s focus on technology-driven solutions.
The transaction reflects ongoing consolidation in the UK insurance sector. Smaller brokers with specialized or digital offerings have become prime targets for larger players seeking to expand without building new operations.
