In reality, what it does, is create a false sense of hope that the creator is doing something that does defend them. The Vimeo co-founder Zach Klein is quoted on their website as saying “lastly, copyrighting is straightforward and truthful.” A photographer is quoted as saying “Binded makes it easy to handle my copyrights.” These are quoted, obviously, because the opinions of those individuals, so they can say whatever they want, even when it is blatantly inaccurate. The Vimeo co-founder suggests Binded is “copyrighting”, which it’s not.
COMMENTARY: Ms. Davis is joining the chorus apprehensive about ‘pretend news”. Images that come from unreliable sources embrace those that are trying to spoof the news, or whom provide photographs with an agenda behind them.
