Southwest Airways canceled 87 flights, or 2% of its schedule, on Tuesday, an indication the service is stabilizing its operation after chaos over the weekend disrupted the journey plans of tens of hundreds of shoppers.
The Dallas-based airline since Saturday has canceled near 2,400 flights, in line with flight-tracking web site FlightAware, blaming a number of components together with its personal staffing shortfall, notably with backup pilots and flight attendants to step in when issues go fallacious.
The disruptions peaked at greater than 1,100 cancellations on Sunday, as about 30% of Southwest’s flights have been canceled because the service tried its largest schedule since April 2020.
